From start-ups through to large, established businesses, we’re helping a range of organisations with their bookkeeping, accounting and tax matters.

First steps for a franchise

The situation

A start-up business was looking to operate as a franchise, but the directors had no previous experience of running a business or managing employees.

They wanted to make sure they were accounting for VAT correctly, while also implementing expense policies. While the business was growing the directors also wanted to be sure they had planned for any cash shortfalls.

Our solution

We gave the directors advice on VAT and let them know about the documents they needed to stay compliant with HMRC.

To help with forecasting and sales targets we created a cash flow forecast for the business that could be modified to take into account a number of different scenarios. We also provided templates and instructions on how to create, review, authorise and pay expense claims.

An accounting system delivers

The situation

A business was outsourcing all its payroll and bookkeeping functions. However, the arrangement was costly and the directors weren’t getting access to the real-time financial data they needed to help them run the business.

Our solution

We set up a cloud accounting system that gave the directors remote access to live financial data, while also delivering a more cost-effective and efficient bookkeeping service.

We also created new invoicing routines and supported the directors in the move to the new cloud system.

Looking forward to retirement

The situation

A director of a company wanted to retire while making sure that the business carried on running as a going concern.

Our solution

We helped the director plan the exit and make sure enough funds were available. We also put arrangements in place for the company to purchase the director’s shares and then carried out the transaction. By carefully planning the exit strategy, we helped the remaining directors take over the running of the business.
